Retirement – like life – is what you make it
Tuesday, January 18th, 2011I recently read the book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller. In other words, we are able to make the choice to fill our life (i.e., the story) with interesting experiences (i.e., chapters) or we can let the story be written by someone else.
What really stuck with me was my desire to make my “story” a spellbinding page-turner rather than a tale that lacks direction and purpose (I have to admit that there have been times when life has simply happened to me). It was a short read, so I tore through it pretty quickly then told a couple people about the book and the effect it had on me.
And then yesterday someone suggested that I write about it. At first I wondered how I’d make this life lesson applicable to retirement planning, (more…)
